Ivory Coast vs Norway — 1:00 PM ET, Arlington

This is the pick of the card for a real contest. Norway are 2.10 to win, the draw is 3.40 and Ivory Coast are 3.50 — a board that genuinely cannot separate two well-matched sides. The two nations have never met before at this level, which strips away any head-to-head read. Norway arrive on mixed group form (a 1–4 loss to France, then a 3–2 win over Senegal and 4–1 over Iraq), with Haaland having found the net four times at the tournament. Ivory Coast beat Ecuador 1–0 and Curaçao 2–0 in the group, losing only to Germany. The game is at AT&T Stadium under a closed, climate-controlled roof, so weather is a non-factor and the technical sides can play.

My lean is Norway, narrowly, on the strength of a striker in form, but this is the one match today where I respect both sides enough that a draw or an Ivory Coast win would not surprise me. If you only play one game, make it this one.

France vs Sweden — 5:00 PM ET, East Rutherford

France are the shortest price on the board for a reason: 1.29 to beat Sweden, with the draw out at 6.50 and Sweden a distant 11.0 or so (the range runs from about 10.50 to 12.0 across books). Les Bleus are the outright tournament favourites at around 4.40, they have won six of their last ten meetings with Sweden — the most recent a 4–2 — and they come in off a group that produced wins over Norway (4–1), Iraq (3–0) and Senegal (3–1). Sweden, by contrast, limped through: a 1–1 draw with Japan and a 1–5 hammering by the Netherlands tell you most of what you need to know.

At 1.29 there is simply nothing to back on the result; you are risking CAD 100 to win CAD 29. The market for a game like this lives in the margin — the handicap, team totals, and player props. Kylian Mbappé, who reached 16 career World Cup goals to tie Miroslav Klose for second on the all-time list, is 3.80 in the Golden Boot market, and Ousmane Dembélé is in there at 13.00 after his group-stage form. The match is at MetLife Stadium in the open air, with a mostly cloudy evening and a chance of a few showers around 67°F — conditions that should not trouble the favourite.

Mexico vs Ecuador — 9:00 PM ET, Mexico City

The nightcap is the most atmospheric ticket on the slate. Mexico are 2.15 to 2.20 to win, the draw is 2.90 to 3.10, and Ecuador are out around 3.90 to 4.00. The hosts won Group A unbeaten and — the number that jumps out at me — did not concede a single goal in the group, finishing with a 3–0 win over Czechia. Ecuador scraped through third in their group via a 2–1 win over Germany, and one analyst’s read that they "generate shots but little of quality" fits a side that has been more durable than dangerous. Add the Azteca’s altitude of 2,240 metres and a warm evening near 27°C, and the conditions tilt toward the acclimatised home side.

I lean Mexico here, but 2.15 on a knockout host is a fair rather than generous price; the under on total goals is the supporting angle given how stingy Mexico’s group-stage defence was.

One genuine contest, one prohibitive favourite, one host under the lights — that is the shape of June 30.
