Eight teams remain, four ties decide the semifinalists, and the quarterfinal window opens today and runs across three days. With Canada out and every host nation eliminated, the Canadian viewer is now a neutral — which, if anything, makes this the round to sit back and read the whole bracket properly. Below I take each of the four quarterfinals in turn: the shape of the tie, the form line, the outright standing, and where the path to the final leads. The Outright Picture

France sit on top of the board at 2.80 as a clear favourite across every book, a status that firmed after they came through Paraguay. Behind them the market is bunched: Spain at 4.70, Argentina at 4.90 and England at 5.60 form the chasing pack, with the order of Argentina and England swapping depending on the book. Then a gap to Norway at 15.0, and the true outsiders — Morocco 28.0, Belgium 31.0 and Switzerland 34.0. Those numbers were drawn on July 8 and, being outright prices, they move with each result. France vs Morocco — Today, 4:00 PM ET, Foxborough

The opener is a rematch of the 2022 semifinal, which France won 2–0. Les Bleus are unbeaten and won all six matches on the way here, but Morocco arrive unbeaten too — three wins, three draws — having knocked out the Netherlands on penalties and beaten Canada 3–0. France are heavy favourites in the tie (around 1.56–1.59), but Aurélien Tchouaméni is a serious doubt, and Morocco have the individual quality to make this awkward. Spain vs Belgium — July 10, 3:00 PM ET, Los Angeles

The most one-sided history on the board. Spain have won six of the seven meetings and lost none, and they carry the tournament’s best defence — four clean sheets in a row and only two goals conceded all tournament. Belgium reached this stage the hard way, edging the USA 4–1 but losing Onana to a tournament-ending knee injury. Norway vs England — July 11, 5:00 PM ET, Miami

The bracket’s most open tie. Norway, on their historic run, ride Haaland — seven goals in five, including the double that sank Brazil. England come through with Bellingham in form and Kane on six goals, but they carry a real selection crisis: Quansah is suspended, Henderson is out of the tournament with a wrist fracture, and Reece James is a doubt. Argentina vs Switzerland — July 11, 9:00 PM ET, Kansas City

Argentina against a Switzerland side living on the edge — through on penalties past Colombia, into a first quarterfinal since 1954. History is lopsided: Argentina have won five of seven meetings and lost none, and Messi is the tournament’s leading scorer on eight. Argentina are favourites around 1.71–1.80, Switzerland out near 5.25. One to watch: Gonzalo Montiel is one booking from a semifinal suspension. Where the Bracket Leads

The semifinal scheme is already set. The France/Morocco winner meets the Spain/Belgium winner in Dallas on July 14; the Norway/England winner plays the Argentina/Switzerland winner in Atlanta on July 15. On paper that points toward a France–Spain semifinal on one side and an England–Argentina collision on the other — but Norway have already torn up one script, and Switzerland and Morocco are not here by accident.
