Semifinal Betting Picks — Odds, Value and Predictions
Loading...
Two semifinals, two days, four elite teams and no host nation left to cloud the judgement — this is the round where the disciplined bets get made. France–Spain opens the round today in Dallas, England–Argentina follows on Wednesday in Atlanta, and both are priced tighter than the outright board would have you believe. Below I walk each tie, give the decimal price and the Canadian kickoff time, and land on the angle I would actually take. The short version: I am not in a rush to back either favourite at these numbers, and the value this round sits in the draw-and-under corners rather than the moneylines.

- France–Spain (today, 3:00 PM ET): France 2.35, draw 3.20, Spain 3.20.
- England–Argentina (July 15, 3:00 PM ET): England 2.60, draw 2.90, Argentina 3.10.
- France are the outright favourite (2.35–2.50); England, Spain and Argentina are bunched between roughly 4.10 and 5.90 behind them.
- Both semifinals are at retractable-roof venues likely to be closed, so weather should not be a factor.
France vs Spain — Today, 3:00 PM ET, Dallas
France are 2.35, the draw and Spain both 3.20. France are the most complete side left — 16 goals scored, two conceded, three straight knockout clean sheets — but they may be without Aurélien Tchouaméni (thigh) and are managing a Mbappé ankle knock, and Spain arrive unbeaten in 36 matches. At 2.35 I do not love the France moneyline against a Spain side that will control the ball and, on this evidence, keep it tight. The value I prefer is the draw at 3.20 as knockout insurance between two elite defences, and the under on total goals — both teams’ records point to a low-scoring 90 minutes that could well reach extra time. If Tchouaméni is confirmed out before kickoff, that only strengthens the case for Spain keeping it level. The full read is in the France vs Spain preview, and the Spain team profile has the squad detail.
England vs Argentina — July 15, 3:00 PM ET, Atlanta
England are 2.60, the draw 2.90, Argentina 3.10 — the most compressed board of the round, and the books are right to rate it a coin-flip. England are unbeaten with Kane and Bellingham both on six goals but are missing the suspended Quansah; Argentina carry Messi (eight goals, decisive in every knockout tie) but have played 60 extra minutes across two extra-time ties. At even money across the three-way, neither moneyline offers value to me. The angles I like: the draw at 2.90, given how tight this projects and Argentina’s habit of going deep, and a small position on Messi to score or assist — he has managed exactly that in every knockout game of this run. If you want a side, England’s fresher legs against Argentina’s two-extra-time mileage is the tie-breaker, but I would keep the stake light. The England vs Argentina preview has the depth, and the Argentina team profile carries the detail.
How I Would Stake the Round
Two tight ties, two favourites I would not back flat. In France–Spain I lean to the draw and the under rather than the 2.35 France price; in England–Argentina I would rather take the draw at 2.90 or a small Messi involvement play than either coin-flip moneyline. The discipline this round is to resist the reputation of the outright favourites — France are the best team left, but “best team” and “best bet at 2.35 with a midfield doubt” are different things — and to lean into the low-scoring, extra-time-friendly markets that suit four elite defences. Our betting guide covers bankroll basics and the parlay strategies page explains how I combine these into a card. For the structural read on both ties, the semifinal preview goes deeper, and the outright angle is on the final four odds page.
